Thomas Gainsborough

Thomas Gainsborough is one of Nobilified's favourite artists. The English portrait and landscape painter was a bitter rival of Sir Joshua Reynolds (another Nobilified favourite). As a founding member of the Royal Academy, Gainsborough's works were characterized by a light palette and easy strokes. He is largely credited with being the originator of 18th Century British Landscape school.
